Hi Spam, What’s the Deal?

I waste a lot of time before writing, and I’ll tell you why.  I get a lot of messed up messages claiming to be my friend or some friendly dealer of xanax.  These people I have no time for.  I know my friends, and I don’t think I’ve ever taken any xanax.  These days, who can tell.  But, most importantly, these freaking spammers are cutting into my ability to write the things that I want to say.  And since I can’t say the things that I want to say, I really want to be able to write the things that I want to say.  (Right here I would say, “Nahmeen?” or something to that effect, nahmean?)So, now I have a floor to speak on.  I just want to have “The Life”.  I want it happen.  I want to sit around with friends and hear Samson Trinh and the Mills Family Band with Adrian Duke play some of the greatest shit I’ve ever heard.  I want to perform a few sets of music that will take me through the spectrum.  By that I mean:  The Sucka D’s: Come on.  The D’s were most likely the worst band known to man.  But still, I loved the shit out of that band.  That showed me what fun was.  That showed me what experimentation was.  That showed me what ‘not knowing what you’re doing and doing it anyway’ was.  This is going to be the first time in 4 years playing that ‘junkst’.  Why?  To see if we can still pull it off.  To see if it’s still fun.  To just see.So, there’s that.  There’s also Ogle B Straight.  I also haven’t done that in 4 years.  We’ll see about that.  OBS was always a lonely performance.  If it still is, then it is.  I hope it entertains me and 2 others.Grab This One Band.  We’ve put a lot into it.  We should have an album.  We produced it.  We paid for it.  We wrote it.  We performed it.  We edited and mixed it.  We will perform it.  We hope you like it.Those are the things on my mind after I deleted 78 spam messages about how fake shit rules.  I prefer real life.  The Life is coming real soon.B

NEWS ABOUT LIFE!

Life is interesting and exciting and difficult and cool and fun and all of these things at the same time.  Everyone I’ve met has added bits and pieces and sometimes large chunks to my life.  I still have much more room to grow, but I would be barely a foot tall emotionally and intellectually without the interactions I’ve had with the people that I’ve known.  Many of these connections may be long gone by now.  Maybe I’ll see a status update of an old friend on Facebook and still be able to think back over past memories that still somehow exist.  Having thoughts like these makes me enjoy life.

It’s all part of the reason for putting on the B.S. Mitrick event “The LIFE”.  Leading up to ‘The Life’ I’ve said that I want to have all of the people I’ve ever known be there.  That way it’s a true celebration of life up to this point in time.  However, I also love the fact that ‘The Fest’ has always brought new people, and some of them have become great friends; others are unique pleasures that I get to see once a year.  So, it would be really cool if ‘The Life’ also brought all of the people that I will meet in the future.  Then it becomes the major crossroads moment where everyone I’ve known and everyone I will know are all in one place at the same time.  Is that possible?  Let’s just say that I enjoy the thought.

Oh, yeah!  This post is meant to let loose some new, exciting, and important information about B.S. Mitrick’s “The LIFE”.  Thanks for indulging me with the previous few paragraphs.  So, here’s the news:

THE LIFE a B.S. Mitrick production July 16 &17 2010

We are very happy to announce that TICKETS will be available in a few weeks for purchase and the price has actually gone down!!  This year “The LIFE” tickets will be just $20.  We will have them available for mail order (or in person) if you want to get them early (and get those low numbers).  Unlike previous years, there will be no discount for early purchases.  To keep it simple and easy it’s just $20 for everyone at any time.

The other big piece of news is the live music.  I’ve posted before about the MILLS FAMILY BAND featuring Adrian Duke.  I realized that I may just mention that constantly because it’s so exciting, and I can’t get over the thing.  I am going to try to get into a rehearsal of theirs and see if I can discover what they may be working on for ‘The LIFE’.  If they do the ‘Abbey Road’ thing. . .the most truthful thing I can say is that I might schnack my pants.  When I was in high school, I can remember leaving school everyday in my silver Jetta, rolling down the windows, and blaring The Beatles.  Not really to be cool because I didn’t feel like it was cool, but because I felt like people needed to hear that music. Usually it was ‘Please Please Me’ tunes, but I also liked to jam out ‘Why Don’t We Do it in the Road?’  That always felt good in the school parking lot.  Beatles music can uplift and it can bring people together.  I know MFB will perform some of it.  Maybe they’ll bust out ‘Please Please Me’ thru ‘Let It Be’.  That’d be cool.

Alright. . .that’s all for now.  There’s a bunch of other info coming around so stay tuned.  Keep checking out the website from time to time for possible blog updates or new videos from B.S. Mitrick.  Also, sometime soon I’ll talk about how ‘The Life’ needs everybody to make an attempt to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.  We need people to join in on that fun, so help get the word out about Friday July 16th in particular!  That’s the date that the record must be set!

Yea Everybody!  See you soon!

Brandon

THE LIFE: The Line Up

‘The Life’ is the 8th Annual Event presented by B.S. Mitrick in New Providence, Pennsylvania.

It all goes down on July 16th and 17th 2010!

For 7 straight years we have presented this event called ‘The FEST’.  It has always been a time for a variety of people to come together and experience art, music, ideas, and each other.  We have seen great musicians, hilarious video artists, and the loveliest of ladies over the years.  Each summer comes with much anticipation and is highlighted by this fantastic weekend.

For our 8th year, we want to bring a few things around full circle.  Take some of the humorous or interesting things from the 2003-2005 Summerfest years and bring them back one last time.  At the same time, we want to present something brand new that will amaze and awe.  So, I’d like announce the line up for ‘THE LIFE’ a B.S. Mitrick Production.

FRIDAY JULY 16, 2010

6:00pm - 8:00pm :  ‘The Jam Called Life’

There will be cool things that happen at any event that cannot be pre-planned.  We have always been aware of this and we have appreciated the many extraordinary moments that were created by the people who attend this thing called ‘The Fest’.  That’s why we want to open ‘The Life’ with a big moment of chance.  This will be an open invitation to any and all musicians out there to come up on stage and play.  Either show up with something prepared or just wing it with a couple of other willing participants and see what goes down.

In the early years of ‘Summerfest’, the majority of the day was set up just like this.  There was not really a band line up back then.  It was like a pile of instruments laid out just waiting for bodies to play them.  We are excited to see what will happen as ‘The Life’ begins with this free form jam session.

8:00pm :  ‘Longest Flip Cup Table Championship for Guinness Book of World Records’

Even though we stopped serving free beer in 2007, we still have had the presence of table drinking games throughout the years of ‘The Fest’.  This has been controversial because while some attendees loved the Beer Pong/Flip Cup action, others found it distracting at times.  Well, ‘The LIFE’ is all about the truth, and the truth is that these games were a real part of this event.  So, let’s embrace it this year!  We will be going for the Guinness Book Record of Most People in a Game of Flip Cups.  So, we need everybody to be in attendance at 8pm on Friday to help us achieve this wild LIFE goal!

9:00pm :  ‘The Return of The SUCKA D’s’

The quintessential musical act of the early Summerfest years was undoubtedly ‘The Sucka D’s’.  (also ‘Scrotus’) Well, ‘The D’s’ will be making their return to the stage after 4 years.  Who knows what this set will hold.  Most likely it won’t hold anything back.  ‘The Sucka D’s’ were a band of crazy experimentation and mayhem.  There were never any rules, just the knowledge that ‘All you gotta do is get on the D. . .and check my stee’.

SATURDAY

2pm-3:15pm :  ‘EIGHT: The Ben Shirk Prawject’

The longest running act, appearing at all 8 Fests:  The Ben Shirk Prawject.  The core band exists but guest musicians are always welcome in this set.  If you want to be on stage with one of the greatest main attractions ever to be assembled in life, now’s your chance.  The Ben Shirk Prawject is the straight up deal!

3:45pm-4:30pm :  ‘The Ogle B Straight Stee’

This one man band features electronic looped effects, 80’s style synthesized beats, and electric guitar licks with a few vocals mixed in.  This was a major musical act in 2004-2006, but has not appeared since then.  Ogle B Straight was considered  to be a loner who played music that was very close and personal to him.  Perhaps in a period when he was questioning his ability to connect with the audience, he quit performing.  This will be his first live performance in 4 years.

THE MAIN ATTRACTION!

5:15pm-6:15pm :  ‘Samson Trinh and the Mills Family Band featuring Adrian Duke’

The Mills Family Band will be making their 3rd appearance at a B.S. Mitrick event.  This will most certainly top the past 2 years as they are adding a three piece horn section as well as the amazing Adrian Duke on keyboards and vocals.  They have consistently performed exciting and emotional sets that are mixed with fantastic originals and impressive cover tunes.  In the past they have made us laugh, they’ve made us cry, and they’re damn sure gonna make us dance!

THE MAIN ATTRACTION 2!!

7:00pm-8:15pm : ‘Samson Trinh and the Mills Family Band featuring Adrian Duke’

BEATLES MUSIC!!  Possibly a full album.  At this point there’s no official word as to what they are going to do with their second set at ‘The Life’.  All we can do is mention the rumors.  Samson Trinh is about to release his album which is a big band version of The Beatles ‘Abbey Road’.  However, we have also heard that the Mills Family Band is a huge fan of ‘Rubber Soul’.  Whatever it happens to be, this set of live music should not be missed by anyone.

9:15pm-10:15pm :  ‘Grab This One Band’

Featuring creators of ‘The Fest’, Sean Patrick and Brandon Mitchell, and Adam Nicodemus holding it together on drums, this rock and roll band has been pushing through the years and making improvements all along the way.  They will be performing in support of their 1st studio album.

THAT’S COOL STUFF, FOLKS!  COME TO IT!

Hey Everybody and ‘What’s the Deal?’! (As always, feel free to respond to that if you are so inclined.) I am writing this to inform you about the official dates for the annual B.S. Mitrick event most commonly known as ‘THE FEST’.  So, get out your calendars, your day planners, your Blackberries, your iPod Notes, whatever you use these days to keep track of your futures and take these dates down.  This year, in 2010, The Fest will happen on July 16th and 17th.  Some of you were told a few weeks ago, probably in a Facebook message or a Christmas Card, that it was going to be held on a different date.  We chose to reschedule the date to give us an opportunity to provide even greater entertainment during the event. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that may have occurred due to the change in plans. I would also like to announce that the official name of The FEST in 2010 will be ‘THE LIFE’.  In subsequent emails, messages, or blogs this year’s ‘FEST’ will be referred to as ‘The Life’ or ‘B.S. Mitrick Presents “The Life”’ or ‘The Life 2010’.  Just remember that if you hear or read something about ‘The Life’, it will be pertaining to ‘The Fest’. In a final announcement:  ‘The Life’ will be the conclusion of B.S. Mitrick’s 8 year run of FEST events.  It is our goal to help facilitate another enjoyable, entertaining weekend in the beautiful hills of Southern Pennsylvania.  There will be movies, music, and wonderful roses in sweet, fragrant meadows of dawn and dew.  ‘The Life’ will be a celebration of ‘The Fest’ and the life that it has had.We will have more updates in the future.  Please save the date and stay tuned for more.  See you this summer!    Brandon
